Granny's Guest House

This weekend I had dear friends from Arizona arrive here in Alva to visit me for my birthday. I wanted their first experience of Alva to be memorable and comfy, and with that in mind I reserved "Granny's Guest Cottage" at the corner of  2nd Street & Locust for their stay over the weekend. It was the perfect way to enjoy ourselves - I felt like I was on a mini-vacation right here in town and the two bedroom home made for a perfect place for my friend Diane and I to chat late into the wee hours while letting her hubby, Steve, go on to bed. The house is comfy and warm with all the amenities of what a hotel would supply, but even more - it felt like HOME. It was more private and cozy than a hotel room.

The weather was a little more damp and chilly than I had hoped for but it didn't stop us from getting out to drive around the local area as I pointed out the sights of the Great Salt Plains Lake and Wildlife Preserve auto- tour route. In the evening I cooked us a simple dinner of teriyaki chicken breasts in the guest house kitchen and we spent another delightful evening chatting away.

The beds are comfortable with soft linens and pillows, the shower is just perfect for whatever temp you prefer and the towels big and fluffy.

I would recommend "Granny's Guest House" for your visitor's to Alva, especially if you want to really be able to have a good time visiting with your guests and not be encumbered by your routine household chores that I know first hand can interrupt your visit when you have guests in your own home.

If I was going to make any suggestion to the folks that run Granny's Guest House it would be to outfit the kitchen with some more pots and pans and maybe go for a complete set of dishes and glassware - just to make things a little more special for pampering the guests.

I live in buffalo but I enjoy fiishng at Case Lake. Is there any way to find out when it is thawed out without driving all the way down there? With the price of gas what it isit would be nice if there was a number to call or other contact for that information. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.Thank you.Mark Myc
